Bob Ong's 6th book entitled "MacArthur" was already released for some time now and can now be bought in some bookstores like Powerbooks and Fully Booked. When the book was released I promised myself that I'm gonna be one of the firsts who will get a copy of that book but unfortunately for some reasons until now I haven't get a copy yet.

I don't wanna be a spoiler but I heard some rumors that "MacArthur" is about Drugs, Family and it's still about our culture or way of living like his past books (e.g. Abnkkbsnplko, Bakit baligtad etc.). I also heard that if in his other books the vulgar words were presented by or with some asterisks (e.g. Sh*t) this time Bob Ong presented those words asterisks free.

I am really looking forward to buy MacArthur and write a review for it but in the meantime if you're curious how BO's book were published you may want to take of glimpse of the pictures I found w/ captions while visiting Visprint's (Publisher of BO's books) website. I really cant' imagine where Bob Ong gets his humor. It can really laugh your heart out.

To say that Mac Arthur is not a happy book is an understatement. Bob Ong is pissed and rightly so. Yes it’s about drugs and dreams and shit. You’ve been to Manila’s public toilets? then you’ll know how shit floats no matter how hard you try to flush it down, much like lives made shitty by drugs and corruption and poverty. In the end though, Bob Ong remains hopeful, all is not lost at least for us who still have a choice.

i was such a super fan of him oh , and add my blockmates too ..

Posted by ashley at May 27, 2008, 12:57 am

this is one good read. the situation that was presented was ‘very’ street, u can almost taste the dirt in it… but at the same time feels very close to home. makes you somewhat feel indifferent with the troubled youth and drug induced. NAPAKATOTOO. go get your copy.
